In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP swept all four seats in the state, just like it did in 2014. The party also posted an impressive vote share of nearly 70%. The Congress delivered yet another lackluster performance in the hill state, winning just 13% of the total votes cast. In Kangra, BJP candidate Kishan Kapoor defeated Congress's Pawan Kajal. In Mandi, BJP leader Ramswroop Sharma beat Congress's Ashray Sharma. In Shimla, Suresh Kumar Kashyap of the BJP defeated Cognress's Dhani Ram. And in Hamipur, Union minister Anurag Thakur defeated Ram Lal Thakur of the Congress.
The BJP's victory in Himachal Pradesh was attributed to factors such as strong organizational machinery, PM Modi's appeal and effective utilization of social media for campaigning.
