AP Election Results 2024: PM Modi congratulates Naidu; TDP chief reaffirms support to NDA

2019, the TDP suffered a shocking defeat, winning only 23 Assembly seats and 3 Lok Sabha seats.

In Andhra Pradesh, where elections were held simultaneously for 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats on May 13.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on June 4, congratulated TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu over the phone for his thumping victory in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections 2024.

TDP spokesperson told CNBC-TV18 that PM Modi and TDP supremo Naidu had a telephonic conversation during which the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister reaffirmed his support to the NDA alliance.

The NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh, comprising the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janasena Party (JSP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is leading in more than 145 out of the 175 Assembly seats. Additionally, the alliance is ahead in 19 out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats.

Meanwhile, Jagan Mohan Reddy's Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is leading in only 24 Assembly seats and five Lok Sabha seats at present.

Meanwhile, JSP leader Pawan Kalyan is leading in the Pithapuram Assembly constituency with 4,350 votes after the first round of counting of votes. The latest trends suggest that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the incumbent Chief Minister and YSRCP leader, is ahead in the Pulivendla Assembly constituency. Meanwhile, TDP supremo Naidu is leading in the Kuppam Assembly constituency.

The YSRCP is leading in Ramachandrapuram assembly seat.

The Andhra Pradesh assembly election was held in a single phase on May 13. The majority mark is 88 in the 175-member Assembly. The counting of votes began at 8 am on June 4. According to the official data provided by the Election Commission, the state had registered a voter turnout of approximately 68 per cent.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy went to the polls alone on the strength of the numerous welfare schemes that he had launched and said that over 80 per cent of the state’s population had benefited from them while the main Opposition the TDP has allied with JSP and the BJP.
