WBJEE Result 2025

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations (WBJEE) Board has received a directive from the state government regarding the declaration of the WBJEE 2025 results. The official announcement is expected today, following a press conference scheduled by the board.

WBJEE Board Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee confirmed that the board received the government's instructions on Wednesday. "We have been directed by the state government regarding the publication of the JEE results. The details will be shared in a press conference on Thursday," she stated.

While no exact date has been confirmed, sources suggest that the WBJEE 2025 results could be declared next week after final procedural formalities are completed.

Legal Hurdles Behind the Delay

The delay in announcing the WBJEE 2025 results stems from ongoing legal challenges concerning the OBC (Other Backward Classes) reservation policy in West Bengal. Earlier, the Calcutta High Court had barred the implementation of the state’s OBC quota in education and jobs, leading to uncertainty over admissions.

However, the Supreme Court stayed the High Court’s order on Monday, allowing the state to proceed with OBC reservations. Despite this, the WBJEE Board needed time to reassess candidate data in light of the revised reservation norms.

The Calcutta High Court had directed the WBJEE Board and the state government to submit affidavits explaining the delay in results. This came after a petition was filed by a candidate's guardian, seeking clarity on the result declaration timeline.

The WBJEE 2025 exams were conducted on April 27, but the board had not confirmed a result date due to pending legal and administrative procedures.

According to a WBJEE Board official, candidates will receive SMS notifications starting Thursday, asking them to verify or submit their caste and category details. This process will continue for three days, after which the board will compile and finalize the results.

With the WBJEE 2025 results delayed, admissions to 10 government engineering colleges, 100+ private institutes, and state-aided universities like Jadavpur University and Calcutta University have also been postponed. Once the results are announced, the counseling and seat allocation process will begin.

Stay tuned for the official press conference today, where the WBJEE Board is expected to provide a clear timeline for the result declaration.
