Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has opened applications for PhD programs for the 2024-25 academic year through NET, JRF, and GATE. Eligible candidates can apply online by December 2, 2024.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has commenced the application process for PhD programs for the academic year 2024-25 through NET (UGC-CSIR), JRF, and GATE. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications on JNU’s official website, jnuee.jnu.ac.in. The deadline for submitting applications is December 2, 2024.

Important Guidelines for Applicants

According to the official notification, candidates are advised to carefully review the e-prospectus available on the JNU website. They should verify eligibility criteria, seat availability, and other details before proceeding with their applications.

Application and Correction Dates

Candidates applying through NET (UGC-CSIR), JRF, or GATE (for the School of Engineering only) must submit separate applications. Once the application window closes, applicants will have an opportunity to correct their details online between December 3 and December 4, 2024.

Key Dates for the Admission Process

Invitation for Oral Examination: By December 12, 2024

Oral Examination Dates: Tentatively from December 16 to December 21, 2024

Application Fees

PhD Programs (General): ₹325

PhD in School of Engineering: ₹20,545

Documents Required for Oral Examination

Applicants must bring the following documents to the oral examination:

  • Two recommendation letters, including one from a former teacher.
  • A detailed list of subjects/questions studied.
  • A copy of at least one published research paper, if available.
  • A brief note outlining research interests and future professional goals.
  • A research proposal to be presented during the oral examination.
  • Self-attested printout of NET (UGC/CSIR/GATE) scorecard.
  • Valid JRF certificate (self-attested) for those applying under the JRF category, including fellowship validity dates.
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) for foreign national applicants.
