As the air quality deteriorated to severe levels across several cities, including Mumbai and parts of northern India, the Supreme Court intervened, directing Delhi and NCR states to strictly implement the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage IV anti-pollution measures. The court also ordered the formation of monitoring teams to ensure compliance with the plan.
