The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has cancelled the Class 11 Mathematics examination scheduled for March 21, 2025, due to a paper leak. The board has said that a new date for the exam will be announced soon.

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu shared a post on X, informing about the postponement of the Mathematics exam. The post did not mention the reason for the decision. However, the minister clarified that the exam had been postponed due to "unavoidable reasons." He further assured that further updates regarding the new date would be provided in due course.

A senior ASSEB official said that the exam was cancelled because the question paper had been leaked. "We are enquiring about the matter and will take legal action soon," the official said.

In a separate incident, the Class 9 English exam in Assam's Barpeta district, scheduled for March 20, 2025, was also cancelled after the question paper surfaced on social media. Officials from the Barpeta district confirmed the leak and decided to postpone the exam.

Barpeta Inspector of Schools, Ratul Kumar Das, issued an order to all school heads in the district regarding the cancellation. "I would like to inform you that the English paper of class 9 annual examination which is scheduled to be held on 20/03/2025 is hereby postponed due to unavoidable circumstances," he stated. The revised exam date will be announced soon.

A member of the District Level Internal Examination Committee (DLIEC), speaking on condition of anonymity, said that they became aware of the leak on the evening of March 19. "We suspect that the paper went viral on social media. We are verifying all claims. Still, we cannot take any risk. So, we have cancelled the examination," the official said.

Following the leak, DLIEC filed a complaint at Barpeta Sadar Police Station to initiate an investigation. Authorities are investigating both incidents, and further details regarding rescheduled dates will be shared in due course.
