
Popular YouTuber Saleem Wastik is currently in critical condition after he was attacked and stabbed multiple times at his residence in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district. The incident took place on Friday morning (February 27) in Ashok Vihar Colony, where Wastik had set up a small office inside his house.
Police said two unidentified men arrived on a motorcycle without a number plate, wearing helmets to conceal their identities. According to officials, the attackers entered the premises and stabbed Wastik several times in the neck and abdomen.
There were also attempts to slit his throat during the assault. Family members and local residents quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, doctors referred him to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Delhi, where he remains under critical care.
Police received information about the attack around 8 am through Dial 112. Officers reached the spot soon after and confirmed the identity of the victim as Saleem, son of Noor Hasan. A case was registered based on a complaint filed by his son Usman, and police teams have been deployed to track down the attackers.
Who is Saleem Wastik?
Saleem Wastik is a famous YouTuber and social media personality known for publicly identifying himself as an ex-Muslim. He gained attention through his videos and appearances on television debates where he spoke about his personal journey after leaving Islam. Over the years, Wastik built a following online through discussions on religion, social issues, and current affairs.
His outspoken views, especially those critical of certain aspects of Islam and the Muslim community after his renunciation of the faith, often sparked debate on social media and television platforms. He regularly shared his opinions through YouTube videos and panel discussions.
Police encounter with accused
Following the attack, Ghaziabad police launched an investigation and began scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects. Teams were formed to track the attackers and gather evidence related to the case.
Police said one of the accused, identified as Zeeshan from Amroha, was killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday. According to officials, Zeeshan sustained two bullet injuries during an exchange of fire and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to trace the second suspect.
