A 29-year-old software engineer is battling critical brain injuries after his motorcycle collided with a stray bull on an arterial stretch in Noida’s Sector 168, in yet another incident underscoring the risks posed by free-roaming cattle on the city’s roads.
Prakhar Bhardwaj, an employee of Wipro who recently relocated to Noida from Bengaluru, was returning home from his office in Greater Noida at about 6.50 pm on Tuesday when the crash occurred. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Delhi.

CCTV footage of the incident shows Bhardwaj riding along a divided carriageway when a stray bull can be seen walking near the median verge. The video captures the moment of impact, with the motorcycle striking the animal and Bhardwaj being thrown across into the adjacent lane as the bike skids away.
According to family members, Bhardwaj was travelling at a slow speed and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. In a post on social media platform X, his brother, Pranav Bhardwaj, stated that Prakhar was fighting for his life with severe brain injuries at a Delhi hospital after being hit by a stray bull while returning from work. He added that the rider had been moving slowly and had protective gear on.
The family later obtained CCTV footage from a nearby housing society. Pranav Bhardwaj said the bull appeared to panic and charge at his brother, knocking him off balance. He further stated that Prakhar was initially rushed to a private hospital in Noida for emergency treatment before being referred to a higher medical facility in Delhi for specialised care.
Doctors in Delhi have confirmed that Bhardwaj sustained severe brain injuries. The family said his spectacles shattered during the fall, causing additional trauma to his eyes and head. His right eye was particularly affected. Although he regained consciousness on Thursday, his condition remains critical.
According to a TOI report, Dr DK Gupta, chairman of Felix Hospital in Noida, where Bhardwaj was first admitted, said the patient was stabilised and referred almost immediately to a higher centre due to the gravity of his injuries.
An eyewitness who assisted in taking Bhardwaj to hospital told TOI that the injured man lay bleeding on the road for nearly 20 minutes before being transported. The eyewitness said that although a crowd had gathered at the scene, there was no ambulance available and with the help of an autorickshaw driver, he shifted Bhardwaj to the nearest hospital.
Police confirmed that no formal complaint had been filed by the family at the time of reporting. A senior officer described the episode as a collision on a single carriageway and said the circumstances were under examination.
The CCTV visuals also show pedestrians and motorists cautiously navigating around the stray animal moments before the collision, highlighting how routinely cattle occupy busy urban roads.
Residents across Noida say the episode is far from isolated. Stray cattle are frequently spotted on major thoroughfares, including the Noida elevated road. Locals in sectors 76, 75, 78 and 62 reported that animals often wander onto carriageways near vegetable markets and informal feeding spots.
Abandonment of cattle has reportedly become a significant concern and stressed that proper fencing along arterial roads, combined with sustained enforcement, was essential to prevent serious accidents. Urban safety experts have long warned that high-speed corridors become especially hazardous when stray animals roam unchecked.
