Toyota Kirloskar Motor has unveiled the all-electric Urban Cruiser Ebella, marking the company's formal entry into India's battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment. Bookings for the electric SUV opened today, while prices will be announced at a later date.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is Toyota's first BEV for the Indian market and is positioned as part of the company's multi-pathway approach towards carbon neutrality. The model is derived from the Urban SUV Concept and is built on a dedicated BEV platform.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is essentially Toyota's version of Maruti Suzuki India's e Vitara electric SUV. Both models are being manufactured at the latter's Hansalpur plant in Gujarat.

Just like the e Vitara, the Urban Cruiser Ebella will be offered with two battery pack options -- 49kWh and 61kWh. The larger 61kWh battery produces 128kW of power and 189Nm of torque and delivers a driving range of up to 543km on a single charge, as certified by ARAI. The 49kWh version develops 106kW of power, while torque output remains the same at 189Nm. The Urban Cruiser Ebella uses lithium-iron phosphate batteries and is front-wheel driven.
Toyota has given the all-electric Urban Cruiser Ebella a bold SUV-focussed exterior aligned with its 'Urban Tech' design philosophy. Barring the front-end, the exterior design of the Urban Cruiser Ebella is similar to that of the e Vitara.
The exterior design highlights include LED headlamps and lighting elements, a muscular bumper with a glossy black finish, stylish side mouldings and distinctive rear lamps that emphasise width. The aerodynamic silhouette has been developed to improve efficiency, while 18-inch alloy wheels reinforce the SUV's proportions. It will be offered in five monotone and four dual-tone exterior colour options.

The cabin features a dual-tone interior layout with ventilated front seats, sliding and reclining rear seats, a panoramic roof and ambient lighting with 12 colour options. The SUV also gets a unified digital cockpit with a 10.25-inch digital combimeter and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Toyota's i-Connect connected car technology enables features such as remote charging operation, scheduling and battery monitoring.
Toyota said the Urban Cruiser Ebella will be available with Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, seven airbags, a high-tensile body structure and a 360-degree camera. Other safety features include ABS, EBD, ESP, ISOFIX mounts, parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control.
Toyota is also emphasising ownership support for its first BEV. The Urban Cruiser Ebella comes with an 8-year battery warranty, assured buyback programme, Battery-as-a-Service option and access to over 500 BEV-enabled service touchpoints across the country.
