The Harrier.ev has had the best safety performance among all the Tata cars tested at Bharat NCAP.

The Tata Harrier.ev has scored a five-star safety rating at the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP) with highest points for any model from the homegrown auto giant tested till date.

The flagship electric SUV of the company received a five-star safety rating in both adult occupant protection (AOP) category and child occupant protection (COP) category.

While the Harrier.ev garnered 32 points out of 32 in the AOP category, it bagged 45 points out of 49 in the COP category.

Apart from the Harrier.ev, Tata's internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric SUVs like the Nexon, Curvv, Harrier, Safari, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, and Curvv.ev have been crash tested at Bharat NCAP.

Under Bharat NCAP, the assessments are done based on the crash-test performance of the cars across three sections -- AOP, COP and safety assist technologies.

The cars undergo a frontal offset deformable barrier test at a speed of 64 kmph, a side movable deformable barrier test at a speed of 50 kmph and a side pole impact test at a speed of 29 kmph. Finally, they are given star ratings from one to five on the basis of their performance across different crash tests.

The Harrier.ev gets standard safety features like six airbags, electronic stability program, electric parking brake with auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill descent control, hill hold control and acoustic vehicle alert system.

The electric SUV is available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and quad-wheel-drive (QWD) versions. Its bookings will open on July 2.

As of now, Tata has revealed the prices of only the Harrier.ev RWD, which sits in the price bracket of Rs 21.49 lakh to Rs 27.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Harrier.ev QWD prices will be announced on June 27.

The Harrier.ev has a couple of battery pack options -- 65 kWh and 75 kWh. You can have both in a single-motor, RWD configuration. The 75 kWh battery pack also comes in a dual-motor, QWD setup. The Harrier.ev RWD develops 238 PS and 315 Nm, while the Harrier.ev QWD is good for a combined 313 PS and 504 Nm.

The claimed range is 538 km on a single full charge for the Harrier.ev 65 kWh RWD, 627 km for the Harrier.ev 75 kWh RWD and 622 km for the Harrier.ev 75 kWh QWD.
