Nissan Motor India is set to launch the Nissan Gravite in India on February 17, marking the brand's entry into the affordable 7-seater MPV segment. The upcoming Nissan Gravite MPV, based on the Renault Triber, will be the first product under the company's renewed India strategy and is expected to strengthen its presence beyond the Magnite compact SUV.
Currently, Nissan India's portfolio includes only the Nissan Magnite. With the Gravite launch, the carmaker begins a new product cycle that will also see the arrival of the Tekton mid-size SUV in mid-2026, followed by a new seven-seater SUV in early 2027. The Gravite is therefore positioned as a key volume driver in Nissan's India expansion plan.
The Nissan Gravite 7-seater MPV has been developed with a focus on Indian family buyers. Nissan says the Gravite will prioritise space efficiency, flexible seating layouts and modular configurations suited for both urban commuting and long-distance travel. The emphasis is on practicality and value in the sub-Rs 10 lakh MPV segment.
In terms of exterior design, the Nissan Gravite will adopt the brand's global styling cues. It is expected to feature Nissan's signature C-shaped front grille, hood branding and distinct rear-door badging. The rear profile will continue the C-shaped interlock lighting theme seen on other Nissan models. All-LED lighting is likely to be part of the package, enhancing the premium appeal in the compact MPV space.
Inside, the Nissan Gravite is expected to offer features such as automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and a multi-function steering wheel. Safety features could include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, brake assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), aligning it with segment expectations.
The Nissan Gravite will be underpinned by the CMF-A+ platform, shared with the Renault Triber. Engine options are expected to mirror the Triber, including a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 72PS and 96Nm. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT.
Production of the Nissan Gravite MPV will take place at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai. The Nissan Gravite price in India is expected to range between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a direct rival to the Renault Triber in the affordable MPV category.
