  • Price range expected: Rs 6-10 lakh, based on Renault Triber platform.

Nissan Motor India will launch the Nissan Gravite MPV in India on February 17. The seven-seater model is based on the Renault Triber and will be the first launch under Nissan's renewed product plan for the Indian market.

At present, Nissan sells only the Magnite compact SUV in India. As part of its new product strategy, the company will introduce the Gravite MPV this month. This will be followed by the Tekton mid-size SUV in mid-2026, while a new seven-seater SUV is planned for early 2027.

According to Nissan, the Gravite has been developed keeping the Indian family needs in mind. The MPV will offer seating for seven passengers and will focus on cabin flexibility, modular seating and better use of space. These features are designed to support both daily travel and long family trips.

In terms of design, the Gravite will follow Nissan's global styling approach. It will feature the brand's C-shaped front grille seen on several international models. The MPV will also get hood branding and rear-door badging. The rear design will carry forward the C-shaped interlock theme used on other Nissan vehicles. All-LED exterior lighting is expected.

Inside the cabin, the Gravite is expected to get features such as automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and a multi-function steering wheel. On the safety front, it is expected to offer six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, brake assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Nissan Gravite will be built on the CMF-A+ platform, which is also used by the Renault Triber. Similar powertrains are expected. This includes a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 72PS of power and 96Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

The Gravite will be manufactured locally at the Renault-Nissan plant in Chennai. The Nissan Gravite is expected to be priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from the Renault Triber, it is not expected to face direct competition in the segment.
