The second-generation Kia Seltos has debuted in India, immediately triggering comparisons with the new Tata Sierra. Both SUVs sit in the mid-size SUV segment, a space dominated by the Hyundai Creta, making the Tata Sierra vs Kia Seltos 2026 comparison inevitable for buyers evaluating size, performance and practicality.

Prices for the new Kia Seltos will be announced on January 2, while Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles is yet to reveal prices for all Sierra variants. A price-based comparison is therefore not possible at this stage.

What can be assessed, however, are the complete Tata Sierra 2026 vs Kia Seltos 2026 specifications. The core comparison points remain engine performance, powertrain options, dimensions and boot space. Here is a clear look at how the two SUVs stack up on paper across these key parameters.

Tata Sierra vs Kia Seltos dimensions

The Sierra dimensions show the SUV measuring 4,340mm in length, 1,841mm in width and 1,715mm in height, with a 2,730mm wheelbase. The Seltos dimensions list the SUV at 4,460mm in length, 1,830mm in width and 1,635mm in height, supported by a 2,690mm wheelbase. This makes the Seltos longer, but the Tata Sierra wider, taller and longer in wheelbase.

Ground clearance is another differentiator, with the Tata Sierra offering 205mm, while the Seltos is lower than 200mm. In terms of boot space measures up to the parcel tray, the Sierra gets around 450litres, compared to 447litres in the Seltos.

For buyers prioritising overall cabin room, the Sierra has some advantage as a longer wheelbase translates into more space, particularly for the second row occupants. Also, the second row of the Sierra can accommodate three individuals relatively more comfortably than that of the Seltos.

Wheel size also plays into the comparison. The Sierra offers 17, 18 and 19-inch wheels, while the Seltos offers 16, 17 and 18-inch options. Larger 19-inch wheels further enhance the Sierra's stance.

Tata Sierra vs Kia Seltos: Which SUV is bigger?

The Tata Sierra is bigger in width, height, wheelbase, ground clearance and boot space. The Kia Seltos is bigger only in overall length. For real-world space, especially for passengers and luggage, the Tata Sierra size advantage is more meaningful.

Tata Sierra vs Kia Seltos engine performance

Engine options for both SUVs mirror each other, but the outputs differ. The Sierra engine lineup includes a 1.5 NA petrol, a 1.5 Hyperion TGDi petrol and a 1.5 diesel. The Seltos engine lineup also includes a 1.5 NA petrol, a 1.5 turbo-petrol and a 1.5 diesel.

In the naturally aspirated (NA) petrol form, the Seltos engine produces about 115PS and 144Nm, while the Sierra engine produces 106PS and 145Nm. This gives the Kia Seltos NA petrol a clear power advantage.

In turbo-petrol form, both SUVs deliver nearly the same output. The Sierra Hyperion TGDi makes 160PS and 255Nm, while the Kia Seltos T-GDi develops approximately 160PS and 253Nm. This makes the Sierra vs Seltos turbo-petrol comparison effectively level.

Diesel performance shifts the balance again. The Sierra diesel engine produces 118PS and up to 280Nm in automatic form. The Seltos diesel produces around 116PS and 250Nm. This gives the Sierra diesel a clear torque advantage, especially for buyers focussed on highway pulling power and load-carrying performance.

Tata Sierra vs Kia Seltos: Which SUV is more powerful?

In segments such as NA petrol and diesel, both SUVs perform closely, but the Tata Sierra shows higher diesel torque, while the Kia Seltos shows higher NA petrol power. Turbo-petrol performance is almost identical, making the Tata Sierra vs Kia Seltos power comparison dependent on fuel choice.
