Kia India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) to expand public electric vehicle (EV) charging access for its customers across India, taking the company's K-Charge network to more than 15,000 charging points nationwide.
For consumers, the partnership directly addresses one of the main challenges associated with EV ownership: the availability and visibility of reliable public charging. Under the MoU, more than 3,000 BPCL charging points will be integrated into Kia's K-Charge platform, allowing users to find and access chargers across cities, highways and key inter-city corridors through a single digital interface.
K-Charge is accessible via the MyKia app and the Kia India website. It allows customers to locate nearby charging stations, navigate to them and complete payments digitally. With BPCL's network added, Kia EV owners will have wider coverage, reducing dependence on a limited set of charging operators and lowering the risk of route-related charging uncertainty.
The expanded network is expected to make longer trips and highway driving more practical for EV users. Charging points located at BPCL fuel stations and travel corridors provide predictable stop locations, which is especially relevant for customers who use their vehicles for inter-city travel or daily commuting beyond urban centres.
"Convenience and confidence are critical to EV adoption. Through this partnership with BPCL, we are making EV ownership more practical and stress-free for our customers by expanding charging access at scale. Strengthening the K-Charge network allows Kia EV customers to plan journeys with greater assurance, while supporting India’s broader transition to sustainable mobility," said Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Kia India.
The MoU was formalised on the sidelines of India Energy Week 2026, held between January 27 and 30 in Goa. While no fixed timeline has been announced for the full rollout, the integration will be carried out in phases.
The charging expansion comes as Kia India prepares for a broader electric portfolio in the country. The company currently sells a couple of electric SUVs, the EV6 and the EV9, and an electric MPV, the Carens Clavis EV, its first locally produced EV in India.
