For Renault, Skoda and Hyundai, March 2026 will be an important month, as the carmakers will be introducing new models in the market, across SUV and sedan body styles. During the month, the new Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq facelift and Hyundai Verna facelift will be launched.
The arrival of the Duster is a significant development for Renault, considering that the French carmaker has been struggling for volumes in India. Credited with establishing the mid-size SUV segment, which is now dominated by the Hyundai Creta, the Duster has arrived with significant exterior, interior and powertrain updates.
The Duster boasts features like a trapezoidal grille, LED headlamps and taillamps and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, you get features like front ventilated seats, premium leatherette upholstery, dual-zone climate control, 6-speaker Arkamys sound system, wireless charging, electronic shifter, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.25-inch driver display and panoramic sunroof.
Built on the new Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP) with nearly 90% India-specific components, the SUV offers three engine options -- Turbo TCe 100, Turbo TCe 160 and Hybrid E-Tech 160. There are both manual and automatic transmission choices.
The Duster price will be announced by mid-March, while customer deliveries will begin in April. Renault will start delivering the hybrid variants from Diwali onwards.
While the Kushaq facelift was unveiled in January, its price will be announced in March, followed by the commencement of customer deliveries later in the month.
In its facelifted avatar, the SUV sports a new grille with chrome ribs and an illuminated light band. There are new LED headlamps, LED fog lamps and front parking sensors. At the rear, you find new connected LED taillamps with sequential turn indicators and illuminated Skoda lettering. You get alloy wheels right from the entry-level variant.
The SUV's cabin boasts bells and whistles like electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch digital instrument panel, Climatronic automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof.
There are two engine options -- 1.0-litre TSI petrol and 1.5-litre TSI petrol. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed torque converter automatic with the 1.0-litre unit and a 7-speed DSG automatic with the 1.5-litre unit.
The current generation Verna was introduced in India in 2023. The facelift launch next month will be the first major update to the sedan since its market entry three years back.
Although sedans have witnessed a loss in volumes in the face of stiff competition from SUVs, the Verna still holds importance in the mid-size sedan segment.
In its current form, the Verna's front design is a bit polarising. Hence, we expect some updates to the front with a redesigned grille and new headlamps. Hyundai is also expected to update the taillamps of the vehicle. Inside the cabin, changes are expected on the dashboard with a new infotainment unit and a revised instrument panel. There could be fresh upholstery as well.
The powertrains will remain the same -- 1.5-litre MPi petrol with 6-speed MT and IVT automatic, and 1.5-litre T-GDi petrol with 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT automatic.
