The case which put paid to Choudhary's ministerial hopes, pertained to the appointment of 166 assistant and junior scientists in the Agriculture University in 2012. The allegation was that lesser-qualified candidates had got through.
In 2017, Mewalal Choudhary had been ousted from the Janata Dal United over his alleged involvement in a corruption case while he was the vice-chancellor of the Bihar Agriculture University in Bhagalpur.
