No hike in budget allocation for OIA Ministry

Keeping the allocation same as that of last year, the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs was today given a total of Rs 81 crore for the year 2011-12 in the Union Budget.

Keeping the allocation same as that of last year, the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs was today given a total of Rs 81 crore for the year 2011-12 in the Union Budget.


The Ministry was alloted Rs 81 crore in 2010-2011 but it could spend only Rs 73 crore.


Out of the total allocation, Rs 6 crore has been earmarked for celebration of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, the annual event organised by the Ministry to connect with the Indian diaspora.

Out of the total allocation, Rs 47.50 crore has been given to the Ministry for general expenditure wile Rs 9.
