Just 24 hours after promising that the Companies Bill will be taken to the parliament in this session, the corporate affairs minister Veerappa Moily told CNBC-TV18’s Rituparno Bhuyan that the chances of the bill making it to the current session of parliament was extremely remote.

“The Companies Bill has gone back to the Standing Committee again. I was told that on April 20 the Standing Committee had a last sitting. May be they may formulate the report and present the report before the parliament. Once it is presented to the parliament then I will move the Cabinet with those modifications if any suggested by them.”

Despite there being outside chances of the bill making it through this session, Moily hopes that it is passed as early as possible.
