Five US based retailers sue Ranbaxy Labs, stock plunges

Drug maker Ranbaxy Labs fell 2.7% on Monday as The Financial Express reported that five US based retailers have sued the company and Pfizer for Lipitor generic delay.

    Drug maker Ranbaxy Labs fell 2.7% on Monday as The Financial Express reported that five US based retailers have sued the company and Pfizer for Lipitor generic delay.
     
    The report says, "Five large US retailers - Walgreen Co, Kroger Co, Safeway Inc, SuperValu Inc and HEB Grocery Co - have filed an antitrust lawsuit against Ranbaxy Labs and pharma giant Pfizer in the US late last week, accusing them of conspiring to delay sales of generic versions of Lipitor, the biggest blockbuster drug in the history of pharmaceuticals. This is the second lawsuit of this nature in last eight months defending in the US over Lipitor."

    At 12:08 hours IST, the share was trading at Rs 491.85, down Rs 13.20, or 2.61% with volumes of 40,710 shares.
