Parle Products today said the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has asked it to recall the stocks of its popular candy 'Parle Kacha Mango Bite' and not the 'Mango Bite'.
FDA officials had recently raided two locations in Raigad and Bhiwandi and seized stocks of the candy and ingredients including finished 'Kacha Mango Bite' packed in jars valued at over Rs 1.46 crore and 8156 Kg of buffered lactic acid worth Rs 10.6 lakh, according to Joint Commissioner of FDA S K Shere. Sources in the FDA said use of buffered lactic acid is not permitted in the country as it is unfit for human consumption. Meanwhile, the company has said in a statement that it is yet to receive the report on tests conducted on the product. "The FDA has seized stocks of Kacha Mango Bite from our factory and we are still to receive an official intimation from the department regarding the tests on the product. We are fully cooperating with the authorities in all requests pertaining to this matter," a company spokesman said. Discover the latest Business News, Sensex, and Nifty updates.
