Epson announces the winners of Colour Imaging Contest 2005
Epson, the world leader in digital imaging solutions today announced the winners of its exciting annual photography competition which aims to encourage and promote digital imaging endeavours. Mumbai’s Subhash Sharma, was awarded with an Epson Stylus C67 Inkjet Printer for his entry “Colors of Togetherness” and “Life at a Standstill” in the Best Photograph category.
The Epson Colour Imaging Contest 2005 was a pan Asian photography contest offering Indian photographers a chance to compete with the best in Asia and win international acclaim and big prize money. Apart from India, Epson also invited participants from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Taiwan, Korea and Australia to take part in the contest.
Held since 1994, the contest is a way for Epson to help promote new forms of expression via digital printing and to create a rich, fun digital imaging culture. The contest has now grown well beyond Japan to become a truly international event. With the ultimate judging done in Japan by a distinguished panel of photographers this year, there were five winners from India in four categories, namely Photograph, Nature, Human Life and Family Snap. The winners from India were as follows:
This year there were a total of 69,118 entries of which 42,270 entries were from countries other than Japan. Out of the total of 347 award-winning entries, 120 of the winners were from outside Japan. There were a total of 2428 entries received from India. The total prize money on offer this year was approximately Rs 60 lakhs. Additionally there were prizes in the form of Epson products to be won. The major award winners will go to Japan for the awards ceremony.
Epson had introduced some interesting new categories this year in addition to the already existing ones. Two of the most interesting new sub categories included a “Black and White Print Award”, developed to acknowledge the work put in to capture expressions without the use of colour and a “Camera Phone Snap Award”, introduced in response to the latest trend in mobile phone imaging. Epson is committed to staying on the cutting edge of the latest technology gadget trends and digital imaging technology innovation.
