Economic Affairs Secretary to be next Trai Chief?

Sources say that several scenarios are emerging for a new Trai chairman, but Economic Affairs secretary, R Gopalan, may be considered for the post.

Speaking exclusively to CNBC-TV18, official sources told that Secretary at the Department of Telecom, R Chandrasekhar, may opt out of the search panel. He was earlier nominated to the search and selection panel.

The first meeting of Trai’s search and selection panel has concluded and there is news that the government may consider six months extension for incumbents before implementation of the license cancellation.
