CCEA to take up Rs 2,900 cr proposal tomorrow for 3 schemes

The CCEA, headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, will deliberate on allocation of Rs 2,900 crore for three central schemes for the entire plan period, sources added.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) is likely to consider tomorrow the allocation of about Rs 2,900 crore for three schemes that include the setting up of cold chains and mega food parks by 2017.


"The CCEA meeting is scheduled for tomorrow. There are proposals by the Food Processing and Consumer Affairs Ministries on the agenda list. They have sought approval of funds for implementation of 12th Plan (2012-17) schemes," according to a source.


The CCEA, headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, will deliberate on allocation of Rs 2,900 crore for three central schemes for the entire plan period, sources added.


Of this, the Food Processing Ministry has sought approval for release of Rs 1,714 crore funds under Mega Food Park scheme for setting up of already appraised 12 new projects in the current plan.


It has also sought allocation of Rs 786 crore funds for setting up of already appraised 75 new cold chains projects, in addition to 63 ongoing projects during the 12th Plan.


Besides, the Consumer Affairs Ministry has sought permission to continue the scheme to create consumer awareness through radio and electronic media in the current plan with an
allocation of Rs 409.29 crore.
