Generics drugs maker Aurobindo Pharma has received final approval from US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to manufacture and market Metformin Hydrochloride extended-release tablets in 500mg and 750mg strength.
Generics drugs maker Aurobindo Pharma has received final approval from US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to manufacture and market Metformin Hydrochloride extended-release tablets in 500mg and 750mg strength. Aurobindo's product is a copy of Bristol Myers Squibb's Glucophage and is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients with type-2 diabetes. Metformin Hydrochloroide has annual US sales of around USD 230 million, the company said on Monday. The product has been approved out of Unit-III formulations facility in Hyderabad, it added. Aurobindo now has 127 final approvals and 26 tentative approvals from US FDA. Aurobindo Pharma shares were up 0.4% at Rs 108.80 on NSE in noon trade.
