Mumbai: Suspicious object a smoke device, not a bomb

The suspicious object found near Infinity mall in Andheri was not a bomb, police said. The object, found in a dustbin outside the mall on Wednesday afternoon, was a device used to create smoke in movies.

The suspicious object found near Infinity mall in Andheri was not a bomb, police said. The object, found in a dustbin outside the mall on Wednesday afternoon, was a device used to create smoke in movies.


Mumbai Police and the bomb disposal squad gave an all-clear after a through investigation, saying it was not an explosive substance.


The Infinity mall was evacuated as police initially suspected that the object could be a bomb.


Police and the bomb squad team was called to the spot and area cordoned off. A team of Anti-Terrorism squad (ATS) was called in by the Mumbai police.

Mumbai police spokesperson Nisar Tamboli said, "The Police team checked the suspicious object found near the Andheri mall. There is nothing to worry about."
