Right-wing activist Laura Loomer has called for British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan to be denaturalised, alleging that he poses a threat to U.S. national security.

In a post on X, Loomer claimed Hasan, who became a US citizen on October 9, 2020, has ties to extremist groups. She cited US laws that allow denaturalisation within five years of naturalisation if a person is found to have joined a prohibited organisation, such as a terrorist or communist group.

“We have 3 weeks to denaturalise @mehdirhasan. He is a threat to US National security,” Loomer wrote, tagging former acting ICE director Tom Homan, Senator Marco Rubio, and other Republican figures.

Loomer alleged that Hasan has “open ties” to the Muslim Brotherhood, has refused to condemn Antifa, and has affiliations with communists. She also accused him of making inflammatory remarks about non-Muslims.

Loomer resurfaced a deleted post by Hasan in which he wrote, “Make American Planes Crash Again” after a fatal crash in Georgia. Hasan has previously acknowledged that the post was “poorly worded” and deleted it, saying he regretted the phrasing and that it was taken out of context.

This is not the first time Loomer has gone after Hasan. She has repeatedly criticised him over his views, particularly on Israel-Palestine and Islam, and has accused him in past posts of extremism and problematic speech. Her recent comments escalate the rhetoric by explicitly calling for legal action.
