The US House Foreign Affairs Committee slammed the New York Times (NYT) for its coverage on the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people - mostly tourists.

Criticizing the headline of the NYT report, the panel shared an edited version replacing the word 'militants' with 'TERRORISTS'.

The report titled 'At Least 24 Tourists Gunned Down by Militants in Kashmir' stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India called the shooting, the worst against civilians in the region for years, a "terror attack" and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Coming down heavily on the publication over its reportage of the Pahalgam terror attack, the US House Foreign Affairs Committee said, "We fixed it for you. This was a TERRORIST ATTACK plain and simple".

Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this 'heinous attack'.

"President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous attack," said Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India's Ministry of External Affairs, in a post on X. "India and the United States stand together in the fight against terror."

At least 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed when terrorists opened fire at Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam town in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday afternoon.

The terrorists have been identified as Adil Hussain Thoker, Hashim Musa alias Suleiman and Ali Bhai alias Talha Bhai. Anantnag police has also announced a Rs 20 lakh reward for providing information on the absconding terrorists.

PM Modi has vowed to punish the terrorists behind the terror attack and those part of the conspiracy beyond their imagination. "Friends, today from the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth. India's spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Terrorism will not go unpunished," he said during an event in Bihar on Thursday.

Offering condolences to the victims and their families, PM Modi said citizens across the country are in mourning over the brutal manner in which terrorists killed 26 innocent civilians in Kashmir.
