A throwback video featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta has resurfaced on social media, sparking fresh debate online. The clip, believed to be from the early 2000s, captures a candid interaction between the two actors during a public appearance, and has left netizens divided over Shah Rukh Khan’s remark, which many felt crossed a line.

In the viral video, Shah Rukh Khan is seen casually asking Preity Zinta whether she is expecting a child. The question visibly catches Preity off guard, prompting her to blush and laugh awkwardly. Moments later, SRK adds, “I can do this. I can make you pregnant.” The comment immediately alters the mood of the interaction, with viewers interpreting Preity’s reaction as discomfort rather than amusement.

The resurfaced clip has drawn sharp reactions across social media platforms. Several users criticised the actor for what they described as an inappropriate and objectionable comment. “That’s objectionable behaviour and vulgar,” one user wrote. Another commented, “She looks uncomfortable. This should not be normalised, even as a joke.”

However, a section of fans came to Shah Rukh Khan’s defence, arguing that the remark was taken out of context and that the two actors have always shared a friendly rapport. “There is nothing wrong. They both are adults, and she blushed hopefully!” one user wrote. Others pointed out that such comments were more commonly brushed off in earlier eras of Bollywood, when boundaries in public interactions were often loosely defined.

Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta have long been admired for their on-screen chemistry, which translated into a warm off-screen bond during the peak of their careers. The duo has worked together in several popular films including Dil Se, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer Zaara, and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Their pairing, especially in romantic dramas, earned them a loyal fan following that continues to engage with their old interviews and appearances even years later.

The resurfacing of the video has also reignited conversations around how celebrity behaviour from the past is judged through a present-day lens. What was once dismissed as casual banter is now being re-examined against evolving conversations around consent, personal boundaries, and workplace conduct. While some believe it is unfair to apply today’s standards retroactively, others argue that discomfort, when visible, should always be acknowledged regardless of the era.

On the professional front, Preity Zinta has largely stayed away from the big screen in recent years but is now gearing up for a comeback. She will soon be seen in Lahore 1947 alongside Sunny Deol, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film marks her reunion with Sunny after earlier collaborations such as Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Farz, and Bhaiaji Superhit. Preity wrapped up shooting for the film in June 2024, raising anticipation among fans eager to see her return to mainstream cinema.
