This comes as External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is on a three-day visit to the United States from February 2 to February 4, 2026, to participate in the Critical Minerals Ministerial convened by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The focus of the visit will be on strengthening supply chain resilience, advancing clean energy transitions, and enhancing strategic cooperation in critical minerals. During the visit, Jaishankar is also scheduled to hold meetings with senior members of the US administration, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The two leaders had last spoken on December 11, 2025. Following that conversation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X: “Had a very warm and engaging conversation with President Trump. We reviewed the progress in our bilateral relations and discussed regional and international developments. India and the US will continue to work together for global peace, stability, and prosperity."
Trump has since shared a photograph of himself with Modi featured on the cover of Newsmakers of the Year 2025, captioned “The mover & the shaker.” He also posted an image of New Delhi’s India Gate on his Truth Social account, describing the iconic monument as a “beautiful triumphal arch.”
