Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir was trolled after he awarded himself Pakistan's second-highest wartime gallantry medal- Hilal-i-Jurat.
"Wow, Asim Munir's self-awarded Hilal-e-Jurat is the ultimate flex! Who needs validation from others when you can just give it to yourself?," one social media user said.
"I'm loving the new trend of self-promotion and self-awarded medals! Who needs a Nobel Prize when you can just give it to yourself? Asim Munir is a trailblazer!," another said.
The third user said, "Asim Munir's Hilal-e-Jurat award is like a participation trophy for showing up to the war and losing spectacularly!"
Munir was cited for “unquestionable courage, military prowess, firm belief, and unshakeable patriotism” during the 22 April–10 May conflict. Alongside him, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza received the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) for their respective roles. Senior intelligence and operational commanders, including ISI chief Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik, were honoured with the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military).
The ceremony also saw the distribution of eight Sitara-i-Jurat, five Tamgha-i-Jurat, 24 Sitara-i-Basalat, 45 Tamgha-i-Basalat, 146 mentions in dispatches, and 259 COAS commendation cards.
