A 28-year-old Indian national died under unexplained circumstances during a major international music festival in Phuket, Thailand, in the early hours of January 18, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
According to Thai police and a report by the Bangkok Post, the man, identified as Jain Saksham, was attending the Electric Daisy Carnival, a three-day electronic music festival held in Cherng Talay. Witnesses told investigators that after leaving the festival venue, Saksham went to a nearby parking area where he began behaving erratically.
Police said Saksham climbed onto a parked pickup truck and appeared disoriented and agitated. He allegedly caused damage to multiple parked vehicles along Bandon–Choeng Thale Road, drawing the attention of bystanders who alerted emergency services.
Rescue workers transported him to Thalang Hospital, where doctors said he was in a state of shock and lost consciousness shortly after arrival. Despite medical treatment, he died soon after. No visible injuries or signs of physical assault were found on his body.
Authorities have ordered a post-mortem examination at Vachira Phuket Hospital to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators are examining possible factors including substance use or an underlying medical condition.
According to Asean Now, the Indian embassy has been informed and is coordinating with Thai authorities. Saksham’s family is expected to be notified, and arrangements for the release of the body will be made after the autopsy.
