Shehbaz Sharif has come under scrutiny after a video surfaced online showing him appearing to offer a guard's salute to Donald Trump.
The clip began circulating on social media a day after Trump convened the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace, an initiative aimed at launching humanitarian operations in war-ravaged Gaza and supporting reconstruction efforts.
The authenticity of the video, however, has not been independently verified.
The footage shows Sharif saluting the US President, prompting sharp reactions online. In a separate moment during the Board of Peace meeting, Trump invited the Pakistani Prime Minister to stand and speak about Gaza.

Sharif praised Trump's diplomatic outreach, describing the Board of Peace as a meaningful step toward achieving a just and lasting resolution in the region. He also referred to Trump as a "savior of South Asia," though he did not elaborate on the context of the remark.
At the meeting, Trump announced that nine members of the Board had pledged a combined $7 billion toward a Gaza relief package, while five countries had agreed to contribute troops for an international stabilization force in the conflict-hit Palestinian territory.
Despite welcoming the commitments, the initiative faces significant hurdles, including the unresolved issue of disarming Hamas - a key sticking point that could complicate or delay ceasefire efforts between Israel and the militant group.
The pledged funds fall well short of the estimated $70 billion required to rebuild Gaza after nearly two years of fighting. While Trump commended participating nations for their financial and military commitments, he did not provide a timeline for implementation.
"Every dollar spent is an investment in stability and the hope of a new and harmonious region," Trump said, adding that the Board of Peace demonstrates how a better future can begin through coordinated global action.
Trump also announced that the United States would contribute $10 billion to the initiative, though he did not specify how the funds would be allocated. It remains unclear how the US government would secure the money, as such a substantial commitment would require authorization from Congress.
