Popular video-streaming platform YouTube has announced the expansion of its AI-powered auto-dubbing feature. This new feature allows creators to automatically dub videos from English into French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. Similarly, videos in these languages can be dubbed into English, automatically by the AI tool.
YouTube’s auto dubbing tool expands for more languages: Here’s how
Through a new blog post, YouTube said, “It’s now easier than ever to connect with creators and content from all over the world even if you don't speak the language, thanks to YouTube’s new auto dubbing feature. Whether you want to learn to cook authentic gratin from a French chef, sew traditional clothes from an Indian seamstress, or scout spooky spots to visit in another country, auto dubbing makes that content more accessible.”
To use the auto-dubbing tool, YouTube creators simply need to upload their videos, like they previously did, and the system will detect the supported language and automatically generate dubbed versions of the video. This feature is currently rolling out to YouTube creators who are a part of the YouTube Partner Program, which mostly includes channels that upload knowledge and information-related videos.
However, YouTube has plans to make this feature available to a wider range of creators soon. For viewers, any supported video will be labelled with the ‘auto-dubbed’ tag, providing transparency. They can switch between different language tracks, similar to other video streaming platforms like Netflix or Prime Video.
