World War Z and The Walking Dead crossover campaign: How Rick, Michonne, Daryl and Negan team up

Saber Interactive’s zombie shooter World War Z is getting a crossover with AMC’s The Walking Dead TV show in the form of a new DLC called “World War Z x The Walking Dead DLC”. The new World War Z content will launch on PS5 and PS4 in January 2026. The crossover DLC brings four major The Walking Dead characters to World War Z: Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Michonne and Negan.

The World War Z x The Walking Dead DLC adds a new campaign story to the World War Z game; the story is set in The Walking Dead TV show universe. The story campaign comprises three chapters set at different locations featured in AMC’s zombie show. Here is a brief overview of what players can expect from the three chapters of the new World War Z DLC.

The crossover story campaign’s Chapter 1 begins at The Prison, a well-known location from the TV show.  The Prison was where Rick, Hershel, Daryl, Maggie and the group set up camp earlier in the show's storyline. In the game version, our four familiar protagonists–Rick, Daryl, Michonne and Negan – will have to face the challenge of the zombie hordes as they try to get through the correctional facility that served as a base in the past until it got overrun by Walkers. Chapter 1 of World War Z x The Walking Dead DLC starts off as a rescue mission, but later turns into a fight for survival.

In Chapter 2, the four survivors make their way back to Alexandria, the settlement that served as a strong promise of return to civilisation. But instead of peace and safety, Rick and the band find that Alexandria is on fire and also overrun with Walkers. The people inside are trapped and can soon become the Walkers’ prey. Moreover, the survivors find that there are other problems they must solve if they are to save the lives of their trapped comrades.

Chapter 3 of the upcoming World War Z DLC sees the group from The Walking Dead travelling to Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta. Their mission is to procure some “life-saving medication” for their people. But it’s one thing to plan a mission and quite another to see it to execution in this uncertain, dangerous world. Almost anyone can be bitten by zombies in this post-apocalyptic world, no matter how battle-hardened they are. That's why Rick, Daryl, Michonne and Negan will have to be extremely careful while combing the hospital for medical supplies. Lives depend on their success.
