Google rolled out the June incremental update to eligible Google Pixel smartphones, which includes new salient features and important security updates. However, this latest update has revealed a vulnerability that could be used to hack Pixel smartphones, which has even worried the US government.
According to a report by Forbes, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has told federal employees to update their Pixel phones by July 4 or avoid using them to keep them away from potential hacking opportunities. Google has also suggested that hackers might have intruded on many smartphones because of the CVE-2024-32896 security issue.
Therefore, individuals who use public wireless internet connection to access various online services should also install the latest security update as soon as possible. Developers at GrapheneOS previously mentioned this issue two months ago, and it is part of the of the CVE-2024-32896 security issue.
Many experts have also warned that this problem might affect other Android phones too. However, we may not see a fix for these smartphones, before the Android 15 OS update is officially rolled out. Further, the GrapheneOS developers have said that the issue has been resolved in Pixel phones with the latest June security update.
