Truecaller is one of the most used apps amongst Android smartphone users for knowing the details of an unknown number. However, for iPhone users, it has made very little sense until now due to the absence of one critical feature: Live Caller ID. While iPhone users could search for numbers within the app after receiving a call, they were never notified in real-time for information regarding the received call. Thankfully, this is going to change now.
Truecaller live caller ID now works on iPhones
In September 2024, Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi first hinted at this development, expressing his hope that users would soon say, ‘Truecaller finally works on iPhones.’ Now, with the latest update for iPhone ensures, Truecaller has confirmed that it can leverage artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to identify caller details. The app developers have also brought support for Apple's Live Caller ID Lookup framework, which is claimed to provide live caller ID.
This feature allows third-party caller ID apps like Truecaller to securely make a call to their server to get information about the caller. The company has also confirmed that the iPhone version of the app is now on par with the feature set available on Android phones and allows information of whoever is calling you in real-time by taking advantage of the company’s AI-powered spam protection feature.
How it works
To enable Truecaller on iOS 18.2, users need to open the Settings app on their iPhone, head over to Apps, tap on Phone, and enable the switches under ‘Call Blocking and Identification.’ Here, you need to enable all Truecaller tabs and reopen the Truecaller app. This will enable live caller ID feature with Truecaller on your iPhones.
