A new chapter in the iconic Tomb Raider franchise is about to begin soon, as Crystal Dynamics has announced Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which will be released in 2027 and published by Amazon Game Studios. Alongside Tomb Raider: Catalyst, Amazon Game Studios has also announced Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a full-blown remake of the 1996 original, which will be released next year.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst – Here’s what to expect
Announced at the Game Awards 2025, Tomb Raider: Catalyst is described as the largest Tomb Raider entry so far, with Lara Croft investigating newly uncovered sites and the forces connected to them as past and present intersect. Through the presented trailer, we see India plunged deep into Diwali celebrations and the new Lara Croft model confronting a villain before she begins scaling some gorgeously rugged mountains.
This new chapter, fully powered by Unreal Engine 5, brings realism to the world of Lara Croft, but this time, the wilderness of the adventures takes you to the ancient history of Northern India. While describing the game, Amazon Game Studios stated that Lara must navigate competing treasure hunters, assess shifting alliances, and “prevent a catastrophe and protect a secret that could reshape the future."
Tomb Raider: Catalyst is currently scheduled for release in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is powered by Unreal Engine 5, and it’s being led by developer Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior) in partnership with Crystal Dynamics and Amazon. Alex Wilton Regan, who has done voiceovers in Cyberpunk 2077 and Mass Effect 3, will be the new voice of Lara Croft in the game.
