The Tamil Nadu government will unveil an industrial housing facility for Foxconn and other industrial workers on August 17.
TN Chief Minister MK Stalin will inaugurate the Vallam Vadagal Industrial Housing Project with Foxconn chairman Young Liu. TN government sources said the industrial housing facilitility is modeled after similar projects in China and Vietnam.
Taiwan-based Hon Hai Technology Group, also known as Foxconn, is Apple’s largest iPhone supplier in India. The company implemented a similar model in China, providing worker accommodations near its factories and managing food and medical provisions to boost production.
In 2020, the TN government sanctioned the establishment of the industrial housing facility for Foxconn and other industrial workers. "The industrial housing project at Vallam Vadagal is a testament to Tamil Nadu's capabilities. It showcases our innovative policies, collaboration with the private sector, and efficient execution of large-scale projects. This initiative also reflects our commitment to sustainability and increasing women's workforce participation by providing safe and secure housing," said TN minister for industries TRB Rajaa.
