For several years, Apple iPhones have been one of the most — if not the — most popular smartphones in the world, especially the vanilla version. Counterpoint Research has dropped its Global Handset Model Sales Tracker for the year and the iPhone 15 has once again emerged as the most popular smartphone in the world followed by the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro in Q3, 2024.
iPhone 15 led the global sales in Q3, 2024
According to the report, the iPhone 15 led the global smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2024. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is close second and the iPhone 15 Pro is at the third position.
The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro held three of the top positions in global smartphone sales, with Apple’s high-end Pro models comprising half of the brand’s sales for the quarter. This represents a shift as more consumers prefer premium variants within the iPhone lineup, a trend boosted by trade-in programs and financing options across emerging markets. Although Apple held four spots in the top 10 list, this figure has decreased slightly from 2023 as other brands expanded their share.
Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy A series also made to the top 10 list
Samsung has a total of five phones in the top 10 list, marking the third consecutive quarter that a Galaxy S series model ranked among the bestsellers. The Galaxy S24 ranked within the top 10, marking a first since 2018 for a Galaxy S series model in a third quarter. Samsung’s Galaxy A series secured four top-10 positions, leveraging its appeal across entry and mid-price segments worldwide.
Xiaomi Redmi 13C made to the top 10 list
Xiaomi’s Redmi 13C also made it to the top 10, succeeding last year’s Redmi 12C. The device’s popularity is attributed to its affordability and appeal in emerging markets, where it stands out for its specifications within its price range.
