Snapchat has rolled out its end-of-year Recap for 2025, giving users a personalised look back at how they used the app over the past year. Similar to year-end summaries from platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, Snapchat Recap presents highlights from Snaps, Stories, and Chats in a short video format.
What is Snapchat Recap 2025
Snapchat Recap 2025 is an automatically generated video that reflects how users connected, communicated, and expressed themselves on the platform throughout the year. It pulls content from saved Memories, including popular Snaps, Stories, and interactions from Chats. The Recap focuses on moments shared with friends and groups, offering a snapshot of a user’s activity rather than ranking or scoring behaviour.
How to access Snapchat Recap 2025
Accessing the Snapchat Recap is straightforward and does not require any additional settings.
Users need to open the Snapchat app and head to the Memories section by swiping up from the camera screen. Within Memories, a card titled “Your 2025 Snap Recap” will appear. Tapping this card plays the Recap video. The Recap can also be saved to Memories or shared with friends, depending on user preference.
The rollout is gradual, so some users may see the Recap appear slightly later than others.
Key usage trends shared by Snapchat
Alongside the Recap rollout, Snapchat released several statistics highlighting how the app was used in 2025. According to the company, users spent nearly 1.7 billion minutes per day on voice calls, marking an increase of almost 30% compared to last year. In the US alone, more than five billion voice notes were sent over the year.
Group chats continued to grow, with over 5% more users sending messages in group conversations. Some users sent more than 8,880 messages to their most active group chat in 2025. Chat Reactions also saw a 44% increase, with the heart emoji emerging as the most used reaction. Sticker usage rose as well, with three million additional users adopting stickers for communication.
Recap launch amid storage changes
The Recap launch comes at a time when Snapchat is facing criticism over upcoming changes to Memories storage. Free storage will soon be capped at 5GB. Users exceeding this limit will need a paid plan, starting at $1.99 per month for 100GB. Snapchat+ and Snapchat Platinum subscribers receive higher storage allocations as part of their subscriptions.
