Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold likely launch date revealed: Expected specs, design

Huawei launched the Huawei Mate XT in late 2024, which is the world’s first mass-market triple foldable smartphone. The Chinese phone maker is also planning to launch its second-generation triple-screen foldable soon. Now, Samsung is reportedly planning to join the race as the Korean tech giant is set to unveil its first tri-fold phone along with its upcoming XR headset and AI-powered smart glasses, later this month.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Expected launch date

As per tipster Ice Universe via Weibo, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z TriFold in South Korea on September 29. The event will allegedly also feature the debut of possibly a pair of AI-powered smart glasses, reportedly called Galaxy Glasses, alongside the much-teased Project Moohan XR headset. Previous reports claimed that the Project Moohan headset will go on sale in South Korea starting October 13, and will be priced between KRW 2.5 million (around Rs 1,57,000) and KRW 4 million (around Rs 2,51,000).

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Expected design, specifications

Samsung has already given us a sneak peek of the Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone during the Galaxy Unpacked event in January. A recent report also claimed that the Z TriFold could utilise the screen on the right side as its base, with the other two screens folding inward. This is completely different from Huawei’s implementation, which uses a G-fold layout for the Mate XT, where the left and right sides of the screen fold outwardly in the centre.

Moreover, the foldable is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which currently powers Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series and the Z Fold 7. Further, it is tipped to arrive with a silicon-carbon battery and could feature a triple camera unit. Like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Flip 7, the Galaxy Z TriFold could run on Android 16 with One UI 8 skin on top.
