Ridley Scott’s Alien universe is getting its first VR game full of terrifying Xenomorphs

Alien Rogue Incursion game is set to arrive in Holiday 2024

Director Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror film franchise Alien began with 1979’s Alien, starring Sigourney Weaver as warrant officer Ellen Ripley aboard the spaceship Nostromo. In Alien (1979), Ellen Ripley and the rest of the crew go up against an unknown and hard-to-kill alien lifeform called the Xenomorph. Spread across four Alien films, Ellen Ripely became Sigourney Weaver’s most famous role. The Alien sci-fi horror film series also earned a place in other creative mediums like comics, prose novels and video games. There have been plenty of video games based on the Alien franchise so far, 2023’s ‘Aliens Dark Descent’ being the most recent one, preceded by (but not linked to) 2021’s 'Aliens Fireteam Elite'. While Aliens Dark Descent is a single-player real-time tactical squad-based action game where you control a squad of Colonial Marines all by yourself, Aliens Fireteam Elite is a co-op third-person shooter. Now, the Alien video game series is going to expand soon to the VR platform, with the upcoming ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion’.

Alien: Rogue Incursion is the first VR game set in Ridley Scott's Alien universe, bringing the survival horror and the claustrophobic terror of the Alien franchise right to your VR devices. Los Angeles-based game developer Survios announced in the second quarter of 2022 that it was working on a new single-player action Alien game, though it hadn’t confirmed the title or the protagonist of the game at that time. But now we have more confirmed details on the next Alien game.

Alien Rogue Incursion is being co-developed by Los Angeles-based VR video game maker Survios and 20th Century Games. As per the developers, the VR-exclusive Alien Rogue Incursion is “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”. Alien Rogue Incursion will be published by Survios only.

3. Alien Rogue Incursion: Story and protagonist

Alien Rogue Incursion features an original story set in the Alien universe.
You play as former Colonial Marine Zula M. Hendricks of the United States Colonial Marine Corps, whose mission brings her to the uncharted planet of Purdan. The unknown planet Purdan has the planetary designation of LV-354. Purdan is a P-type planet located in Middle Heavens, Micor Sector, Phi Virginis System of the galaxy.

Zula has not arrived alone on Purdan; a sentient AI companion named Davis-01 accompanies her. The course of events will take her to the Gemini Exoplanet Solutions black site facility. If you are an Alien fan, you already know what to expect inside the black site.

With acid for blood, an armoured hide, diamond-hard teeth and a lance of a tongue (with a secondary mouth) that breaks through people's skulls in a single thrust, the Xenomorph is an exceedingly tough predator to kill unless your weapon has armour-piercing rounds, you have the reaction time of a ninja but more importantly, have got some luck on your side.

4. Alien Rogue Incursion: Platforms and release date

Alien Rogue Incursion will launch on SteamVR, Valve Index, Meta Quest 3 and PSVR 2. The release timeline is projected to be Holiday 2024.
