Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. The new 4nm process-based chip will sit below the existing Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 chipset. According to Qualcomm’s press note, the new chip is aimed at offering improved AI performance and bringing on-device AI processing to more affordable Android devices.

Qualcomm has confirmed that the chip can be seen soon in smartphones from Samsung, Realme and Sharp with the first device is expected to be announced in the coming months.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 features Kryo CPU with one Prime code clocked at 2.5GHz and three Performance cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz and these cores are backed by four Efficiency cores that’s clocked at 1.8GHz. The chip supports up to 16GB RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The company claims that the chip will deliver 20% faster CPU performance, 40% faster GPU performance and around 30% better AI performance.
The chip also offers on-device AI processing with a dedicated AI Engine Neural Processing Unit (NPU). The chip also comes equipped with other AI-powered features like AI-based noise cancellation and noise reduction.
Connectivity options include 5G mmWave and Sub-6, SA and NSA, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC
Regarding camera capabilities, the chip can handle up to 200MP resolution and 4K HRD videos with the Spectra Triple ISP.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip supports up to FHD+ display with 144Hz refresh rate and for gaming, there’s the Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0, Variable Rate Shading and Adreno HDR Fast Blend and the chip also supports Vulkan 1.3 API.
