The OnePlus Nord 4 is one of the most anticipated midrange smartphones in 2024 and is set to launch next week on July 16. Ahead of its debut in the global market, OnePlus has confirmed some details of the smartphone. The device is also set to become the only handset from OnePlus with the longest overall software support window to date, beating more expensive models such as the flagship OnePlus 12 and the OnePlus Open.

OnePlus Nord 4 to get longer software support

Through a new post on social media X, OnePlus has now confirmed that the upcoming Nord 4 will get four years of Android platform updates and six years of security patches. This is higher than the OnePlus Nord 3 update policy, which was promised three years of OS updates and four years of security updates. It is also higher than the OnePlus 12 update policy, which will only receive five years of security patches.

The four-year Android platform update policy matches Nord 4’s rivals such as Samsung's Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35. However, these handsets are promised to get five years of security updates.

The OnePlus Nord 4 is also confirmed to get the company’s new Battery Health Engine technology, which OnePlus claims will improve battery longevity. The device will be certified for 1,600 complete charging cycles and should retain more than 80 percent of the battery health over four years.

While the company hasn’t officially announced the batter details of the smartphone, the Nord 4 is expected to come with a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging support.
