Nvidia partners with Indian IT firms to boost AI development

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said India was earlier focused on IT, the back office, and delivering of software. The next generation of IT is going to be about producing and delivering AI.

Huang highlighted that overcoming the Hindi LLM hurdle would position India as a global leader in AI development.

Nvidia is ramping up its commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) in India, announcing strategic partnerships with Indian IT firms at the Nvidia AI Summit in Mumbai.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasised the company's mission to harness India's IT prowess to develop advanced AI solutions for businesses.

“Our job is to help India build and deploy AI, and your job is to take… (India’s) incredible IT capability so that we can create agents and help every single company,” Huang said while addressing the Summit.

Just minutes before the event, Tata Consultancy Services launched a new Nvidia business unit to speed up the industry-wide adoption of AI by its customers. This unit will help enterprises leverage insights from TCS’ global centers of excellence and NVIDIA's AI platform to offer industry-specific solutions in various verticals.

Tata Communications also unveiled an AI infrastructure partnership with Nvidia for accelerated computing. As part of the initiative, Tata Communications will integrate cutting-edge NVIDIA software solutions such as NIM microservices, Omniverse and Isaac platforms, into its AI Cloud offerings.

“Accenture, TCS, Tech Mahindra, are taking physical AI systems knowledge to India and the world,” said Vishal Dhupar, MD, Nvidia India.

Huang said that the chip design giant is working with data centre company Yotta to build a fundamental computing infrastructure in India.

“India was earlier focused on IT, the back office, and delivering of software. The next generation of IT is going to be about producing and delivering AI,” Huang said.

Huang shared the stage with Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, discussing the transformative role of AI in reshaping industries and India's potential as a global AI leader. They also discussed building AI infrastructure with NVIDIA’s advanced GPUs and harnessing foundational models for Indian languages.

During Reliance Industries’ AGM on August 29, Ambani said that the conglomerate wants to make AI accessible to all in India just like the broadband expansion.

Ambani, in his address to shareholders, said that AI has become integral to everything we do. This aligns with RIL's broader goal of making AI accessible throughout India, akin to its broadband expansion.

“We are embedding AI into all our processes and offerings, creating end-to-end workflows with real-time, data-driven insights and automation. This is helping us deliver smarter, more responsive services, to both internal users and customers,” Ambani said last month.

Jio is leveraging AI to enhance various aspects of its business and implementing a comprehensive suite of tools and platforms named Jio Brain. This initiative focuses on accelerating AI adoption, streamlining workflows, and improving customer service through real-time, data-driven insights.

Jio Brain will help other Reliance operating companies to fast-track their AI journey, as well as offer it to other companies. “I anticipate that by perfecting Jio Brain within Reliance, we will create a powerful AI service platform that we can offer to other enterprises as well,” said Ambani.

Nvidia operates in six locations across India, with the tech giant working with enterprises, cloud providers, and startups to build AI infrastructure powered by NVIDIA’s accelerated computing stack. The stack comprises of tens of thousands of its most advanced GPUs, high-performance networking, and AI software platforms and tools.
