London-based technology company Nothing has officially announced that the Phone (3a) Series will feature a “pro-level” camera system, designed to deliver true-to-life smartphone photography and video recording. The new lineup will be unveiled on March 4 at 3:30 PM IST.
The Phone (3a) Series will introduce significant improvements over its predecessor, Phone (2a), particularly in camera hardware and AI-driven enhancements. A key upgrade is the inclusion of a 50MP periscope lens, offering 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and 60x ultra zoom. This addition allows for clearer macro shots and portrait photography with a 70mm focal length, claims Nothing.
Nothing has also revealed that the TrueLens Engine 3.0, an AI-driven image processing system that combines tone mapping and scene detection to optimise every shot. The company claims this engine strikes a balance between classic photography and next-generation computational techniques.
According to Nothing, the Phone (3a) Series’ 50MP main sensor captures 64% more light at a pixel level, leading to a 300% increase in full well capacity compared to the Phone (2a), according to Nothing.
All four sensors in the camera system support Ultra HDR photo output, while the main and front cameras are capable of 4K video recording. The phone also features enhanced stabilisation and night mode to improve video quality.
The company’s CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the handsets in the series will be powered by Snapdragon SoCs, consisting of the Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro.
