Microsoft Build 2024 commences on May 21 at 11:30 AM (PT) and will conclude on May 23. The conference features a blend of online and in-person sessions, offering attendees the flexibility to participate virtually or join in person at the event venue in Seattle.

Microsoft is clearly emphasising the theme of AI for Microsoft Build 2024 with its tagline, "How will AI shape your future?" Unsurprisingly, AI is prominently featured throughout the event's lineup of sessions. Several sessions specifically align with two major developments expected to drive the event:

Anticipation is building for the Surface event on May 20, which is likely to spotlight Microsoft's comprehensive AI strategy. On the hardware front, Microsoft is expected to unveil new Windows on Arm laptops within the Surface lineup. Reports suggest that these new Arm-powered devices, featuring the upcoming Snapdragon X Elite CPU, will outperform the M3-powered MacBook Pro, according to The Verge. The session titled "Introducing the Next Generation of Windows Arm" further hints at a focus on Arm-powered Windows devices during Microsoft Build.

There is strong evidence that Microsoft has been enhancing Windows 11 with AI capabilities. The AI Explorer app might be revealed at the Microsoft Surface Event on May 20, which is scheduled just one day before Microsoft Build. Whether or not it's announced at that time, AI Explorer is likely to feature prominently in sessions like "Designing for a brand new Windows AI feature" and "Bringing AI experiences to all your Windows devices," which are poised to showcase exciting new product announcements.
