LG Electronics has officially launched the Xbox app on its Smart TVs, allowing users to stream and play Xbox games directly on the big screen without a console. The service, powered by Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, is now available on LG Smart TVs running webOS 24 and newer versions in over 25 countries.
Features and accessThe Xbox app can be accessed through the LG Gaming Portal and the LG Apps menu. With a compatible controller, users can instantly play hundreds of games from major publishers such as Activision, Bethesda, Blizzard, Mojang, and Xbox Game Studios. No console is required to use the app—only a Game Pass Ultimate subscription and a stable internet connection.
The app supports a wide library of titles, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Avowed, South of Midnight, and upcoming releases like Towerborne. It also enables users to stream select titles they already own, such as NBA 2K25 and Hogwarts Legacy, offering more flexibility to existing Xbox players.
Device compatibilityThe Xbox app is available on LG Smart TVs and select smart monitors that run the latest webOS 24 platform or newer. LG has confirmed that support for StanbyME screens will also roll out soon. This marks a significant step for cloud gaming, making it easier for more players to access AAA games without needing dedicated gaming hardware.
The integration is part of LG’s broader strategy to enhance its Smart TV ecosystem as a hub for home entertainment. LG’s OLED and QNED TVs are optimised for gaming with low input lag, fast response times, and upscaled 4K visuals. By partnering with Xbox, LG aims to attract casual and serious gamers with a seamless gaming experience straight from the TV.
