  • Apple may launch the budget iPhone 17e around February 19, 2026.
  • iPhone 17e could feature MagSafe charging up to 25W and a 48MP rear camera.
  • Device may use A19 chip, 6.1" OLED display, and keep a single rear camera.

Apple may be getting ready to give its budget iPhone another shot. Despite a lukewarm response to the iPhone 16e, reports suggest that Apple is moving ahead with the iPhone 17e, with a possible launch in February 2026.

According to a report by Macworld, the iPhone 17e could arrive on February 19. The date has been tipped based on information circulating among case and accessory makers, who are often among the first to spot signs of a new iPhone. Interestingly, this lines up closely with the launch timing of the iPhone 16e last year. That said, Apple usually announces products earlier in the week, while February 19 falls on a Thursday. Because of this, the date should be treated as a strong hint rather than a confirmed launch plan.

There is also the possibility that Apple will skip a launch event altogether. The iPhone 16e was announced quietly through a press release, and the company may choose to follow the same approach again. If that happens, the iPhone 17e could appear with little warning at any point early in the year.

On the hardware side, reports suggest the phone has already entered mass production shortly after CES 2026. That usually means Apple is preparing stock for a wider release, which supports the idea of a first quarter launch.

As for what to expect from the device, the iPhone 17e is likely to focus on small upgrades rather than major changes. One of the biggest improvements could be MagSafe wireless charging with support for speeds up to 25W. This would be a noticeable step up from the slower wireless charging on the iPhone 16e and would make MagSafe accessories more useful on the budget model.

The phone is expected to keep a single rear camera, possibly a 48 megapixel sensor. It may feature a 6.1 inch OLED display with slimmer bezels, but the refresh rate is said to stay at 60Hz. That could disappoint users hoping for smoother scrolling.

Design details are still unclear. Some leaks suggest Apple might finally bring Dynamic Island to the e series, while others say the notch could remain for another year. Internally, the phone is expected to run on the new A19 chip, along with a C1 series modem, Face ID, and a 12 megapixel front camera.

If Apple sticks to the same pricing as the iPhone 16e, the iPhone 17e could once again aim to be the most affordable way to buy a new iPhone in 2026.
