Instagram is getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit with a fresh set of limited-edition features designed to help users share the love in more creative ways. The platform, along with its companion app Edits, has rolled out new fonts, effects, stickers and chat themes just in time for February 14.

The update is all about making it easier for people to personalise their Stories, Reels and direct messages. Whether someone is posting about a partner, celebrating friendships, or simply joining in on the festive mood, the new tools are meant to add a playful and romantic touch.

On Instagram, users will now find Valentine’s-themed fonts and text effects that can be added to Stories and Reels. These include special animations and decorative styles that make posts feel more expressive. There are also love-themed photo sticker frames, allowing users to wrap selfies and shared memories in heart-inspired designs.

One of the more interactive additions is a “secret phrases” feature in Story comments. When users comment with specific words, special themes and animations are unlocked. Instagram has also introduced custom Story mention stickers, making it easier to tag a significant other or a close friend in a more festive way.

Even Instagram Notes, the short status updates visible in direct messages — are getting a seasonal makeover. Users can add Valentine’s-themed hint text and discover hidden phrases that trigger themed designs. Private chats are also part of the celebration, with a new Valentine’s Day chat theme available in both light and dark modes.

Meanwhile, Edits is leaning into video creativity. The app now offers Valentine’s Day fonts and ready-made text presets for Reels. New sound effects, including harp music and heartbeat sounds, can be added to videos to match the romantic vibe. There is also a dramatic new speed control option that allows creators to speed up clips up to 100 times, opening the door to playful or high-energy edits.

While the Valentine’s features on Instagram itself will only be available from February 12 to February 16, the themed tools on Edits are here to stay beyond the holiday.

With these updates, Instagram appears to be encouraging users to go beyond simple posts and turn everyday moments into something more thoughtful and visually engaging, just in time for the most love-filled day of the year.
